www.caspot.com brings you the exclusive post of Plan For May 2015 CA Final Exams - Both Groups

SOME ONE ASKED :

How do I plan/prepare for my CA final exam in May 2015?
Guys, I am a very average student who had passed CA IPCC by luck. My CA Final attempt is due May 2015. I am confused as to how to plan/prepare a timetable or whatever to start studying. I am more of a theoretical person from a poor financial background. Took coaching only for FR and SFM.
I wanna do theory on my own. Is it possible ?
Kindly help

Clearing ca exam does not depend how studious you are. So you being an average student or not really does not matter.

It is really good that you want to start your preparation now for May 2015. Even if you are an average student you should aim to get rank in your May 2015 attempt.

Taking tuition has no role in clearing ca exam. I only took tuition because I could not study at home. Self study is best way to clear an exam.

Since you have already taken tuition FM and SFM so not going in detail for those subject. For other try get hold of study materials from your friends who have taken tuition as institutes study material might be confusing at times. However it is advisable to solve questions from institute mat.

For your question regarding theory subject, yes it can be studied on your own try targeting one topic per subject at a time. Set a target for two to three days and try to complete it within the targeted time frame. For example in ISCA, if you try to finish one chapter at a time by September you will be able to finish the subject. So is the case with Audit and Law.
For direct tax go and buy Vinod Gupta Sir's mat it is exhaustive. Don't forget to buy his summary module as it helps during revision just the day before exam.
For IDT there are many reference books, buy which suits you. But don't wait for amendments to come, just go and buy whenever you are ready to study.
For cost get notes and solve as much as you can. But do not give more than two days to a topic.

First try to complete all subject with three months and then revise as much as you can.

Please note: Questions have been answered assuming your articleship is over.

"Guys, I am a very average student who had passed CA IPCC by luck. My CA Final attempt is due May 2015"

If you are trying to underplay your success in CPT / IPCC by telling that you cleared exam by luck, by all means go ahead and do that. But, to go into a CA Final exam with low self-confidence may not be the best idea. As cliched as it may sound, you need to believe in your capabilities to succeed.

"I am confused as to how to plan/prepare a timetable or whatever to start studying"

You have a lot of time at hand. Start preparing yourself mentally for the months of hard work that is round the corner. For now, just immerse yourself in the subjects for few hours a day to familiarise yourself with the subjects. The real challenge begins in the last 3 - 4 months of preparation. The following answer may help ...

Great. Atleast you understand your strengths and weaknesses. Go all out on "solving" problems of Accounts, FM, Costing, Tax. Solve them as many times as you can. The journey from "understanding the concepts" to "solving the problem within 20 mins under exam pressure" can be undertaken only by repeated practise.

".....from a poor financial background"
Does this matter !!

Random inspiring article re-iterating the fact that the background (financial or otherwise) shouldn't really matter...

Common tricks to studying theory well is not limited to your ability to understand and recollect stuff. It includes more:

1. Identifying the right study material.
Spend good amount of time taking this decision. Speak with seniors for suggestions. Go to a library and study from the book for a day to see if you are comfortable. Only then take a decision.

Make use of RTPs and Institute study materials wisely.

2. Disciplined daily studying.
Students who go to coaching have an enforced discipline of studying regularly. If you do not want to go to a coaching class, ensure that you are studying in a planned disciplined manner.

3. Understanding what is important and what is not !
Sometimes, a teacher knows the "smart" way. It saved you from navigating the huge study material we have. Also, your fellow friends at coaching class/college/work may be of good help. Idea is to speak to people .. a lot... and keep self-correcting your method of studying.

All in all, if theory is your strong area, I would suggest to take guidance of a teacher and make it stronger with minimal time and effort.

  Hope I did !
