www.caspot.com brings you the exclusive post of Inspiring Story Of CA National Topper - Aloka Lad Gaurav
Though his father wanted the teenager to follow his footsteps and take up the medical profession, he was in love with the machines and aspired to become an engineer. His ambition brought him to Nagpur where his fortunes changed. On Wednesday, when the Delhi-based Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced results of CA Final exam, Gaurav Shrawagi at first refused to believe the result. The reality soon sunk in as ICAI national president Subodh Kumar Agrawal personally called him to congratulate Gaurav on his extraordinary success. He was the national topper having scored 66.75%. He was followed by Delhi's Mridu Garg (66.25%) and Kolkata's Akshay Losalka (65.50%).
Nagpur achieved the rare distinction of producing CA national topper after five years. Atul Agrawal had topped the exam in 2009 while Pawan Sarda had secured second all-India rank three years back. Though overall results of Nagpur dipped compared to last year, the city can take solace that it has produced a national topper and a 10th rank holder in the form of Ekta Dhiran.
Of 937 students who appeared in the CA final exam, considered to be among the toughest ones, just 50 managed to scrape through. The results of Common Proficiency Test (CPT) are also announced the same day where 647 out of 1,794 students of 36% qualified. The city ICAI branch felicitated both all-India rank holders at its Dhantoli office in presence of president Swapnil Agrawal, regional council member Julfesh Shah and CA Manish Ojha with whom Gaurav completed his articleship.
"I now intend to join taxation and project finance sectors before starting my practice. I have already started looking for a job in Pune and Mumbai," the ecstatic topper hailing from Akot town in Akola district told TOI. The teenager scored 534 marks out of 800 marks. It was not easy for Gaurav to learn the basics with his village background. "It was a big struggle for me initially. I found it a bit difficult to grasp the subjects compared to others," he candidly admits.
He arrived in Nagpur with an aim of joining engineering colleges but a bad score in Class XII exam shattered his dreams and led him to join the CA course. He had taken admission in Pt Bacharaj Vyas Junior College in 12{+t}{+h} Science. "The course is a bit lengthy and tough to understand. But proper planning and regular studies can get you success," Gaurav, who completed his graduation in commerce from Hislop College, when asked for his success mantra. "Hardwork and an overall growth outlook have no substitute," he adds as he gives credit to his parents, principal, teachers and members of Nagpur branch of ICAI.
Expressing satisfaction over the results, Agrawal and Shah stated that the branch would keep up its effort to produce national toppers. They lauded Gaurav and Ekta's efforts for making the city proud. They informed that Gaurav had immediately received a placement offer with initial package of Rs 50 lakh per annum.
