Advanced IT training (ITT) for CA Final Students - New Update

Advanced ITT is applicable only to those students who are registered for CA Final on or after 1st August 2012. Such candidates must undergo Advanced ITT during 3rd year of Articleship but before appearing in CA Final. The training will be of 100 hours and alike ITT it would be done for around 2 months with 3 to 5 hours maximum per day.

Advanced IT training is also made compulsory for those who are registered for Articleship on or after 1st August 2012. This Advanced IT training is to be perused in the last year of article ship training. Further any kind of notification till now is not out by the ICAI in this regard.

When we find out the requirement of become chartered accounts, then we find, ICAI clearly mentioned that advance Information Technology Training is mandatory at Final Level.

Requirements to become a Chartered Accountant: (Via CPT Route)
  • Enrol with the Institute for Common Proficiency Course (CPC) after passing class 10th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
  • Appear in CPT examination after appearing in the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto and after completion of specified period (60 days) from the date of registration for CPC with the Board of Studies and first day of the month in which the examination is to be held, viz., students registered on or before 1st April/1st October will be eligible to appear in June/December examination, as the case may be.
  • Join Intermediate (IPC) Course/ATC after passing CPT and 10+2 examination.
    • Undergo Orientation Programme
    • Complete 100 hours ITT
    • Students are advised to undergo Orientation Programme and complete 100 hours ITT at the earliest but these are to be completed compulsorily before commencement of their articleship.
    • Appear in Intermediate (IPC) Examination/ATE on completion of 8 months of study course as on first day of the month in which the examination is to be held
    • Join articled training after passing either Group I or Both Groups of Intermediate (IPC) Course.
    • Undergo First General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) course (15 days) during the first year of articled training.
    • Undergo Second General Management and Communication Skills (GMCS) course (15 days) after completion of 18 months of articled training but before completion of articled training. Alternatively, attend Four Week’s Residential Programme on Professional Skills Development.
    • Clear Group II of Intermediate (IPC) Examination if not done earlier.

  • Join CA Final Course:
    • After passing Intermediate (IPC) Examination register for Final course with the Board of Studies;
    • Collect study material of the Final course and prepare for the Final examination;
    • Complete Advance Information Technology Training during the third year of practical training but before appearing in the Final Examination;
    • Complete articled training of 3 years.
    • Appear in the final examination on completion of the practical training or while serving last 6 months of articled training on or before the last day of the month preceding the month in which the examination is to be held.
    • Pass final examination and complete GMCS II, if not completed earlier.
    • Enrol as a member of the ICAI and be designate as “Chartered Accountant”.    
Now Question arise what will be the content of this ADVANCE IT-TRAINING:

import and export XML data, XML schema, importing exporting text file, exporting data to XBRL, create macro and its function, Analysis of Auditors Reports, Equity Analysis, PE Ratio, Du-Pont Analysis, Equity Research- concepts, techniques and applications, Statistical Inference, ANOVA (Analysis of Variance Test), Evaluating The Regression Model, Adjusted R-square, Depreciation accounting, Capital budgeting, Risk analysis and investment, Scenario Analysis, Monte Carlo Simulation

3. Computer Assisted Audit Techniques:
Importing/exporting of data, using key features of CAAT such as statistics, sampling, stratify, sort, filter, classify, identify duplicates, file definition, data integrity, aging, extract, analytical filter, reporting, gap detection, sequence check, periodicity check, Benford law, etc.

4. Core Banking Solution:
Concepts, modules, functions, features, interfaces, parameterization, user creation, granting of access rights, audit logs, using reporting/SQL feature for analysis, reviewing controls at different layers with case study

5. Enterprise Resource Planning:
Concepts, Modules, functions, features, implementation aspects, selection, configuration, user creation, access rights, audit logs, reporting, exporting data for relevant reports, security management, Data management, reviewing controls, e-filing,

6. Office automation applications and IT security in a CA's office:
IT security at server/client level, wireless security, laptop security, securing Personal computers, Tablets and Mobile Phones. IT applications for financial, cost and management accounting, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Compliance, reporting

Afterward, Project report and presentation of case study of IT assurance, consulting, implementation using combination of above applications.
